A window into the world of your favourite TLL2018 musicians when they were kids!

 

Davey Lane (You Am I)The first concert I went to was 
Paul McCartney at the MCG in 1993.

My first musical instrument was 
Trombone. But I quickly realised I couldn't really write 'songs' on a trombone. Hearing the Beatles and the Who set me on the six stringed path to the transient life of rock 'n roll I proudly live today.

My favourite childhood holiday was 
New Zealand, my grandparents lived there so it was like a second home for me. I liked fishing with my Grandad and eating mussels.

My favourite song was 
Mr Blue Sky by ELO is one that sticks to this day.

As a child, I loved dressing up as
A guitar player in a rock 'n roll band.

Transvision Vamp + Johnny Diesel.

My first musical instrument was 
Our family Casio organ.

My favourite children's book was
The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. 

My favourite song was 
Thriller by Michael Jackson.

I was really good at
Discus. Yes, discus.

Kate Miller-HeidkeThe first concert I went to was 
My cousin Annie Lee is also Mourne Kransky of the Kransky Sisters. She used to do the most hilarious, bizarre and brilliant concerts in our lounge room. I was in awe of her as a kid (and still am!).

My first musical instrument was 
The violin. I never got good at it.

My favourite children's book was
Everything by Roald Dahl, especially The Witches.

My favourite song was 
Tears on my Pillow by Kylie Minogue.

My earliest childhood memory is
Tropical afternoon storms on our tin roof.

Loved kicking a footy with my father, brothers & sisters. I was a tom-boy!

Bananas.

A boy. HA! Tom boy things! Haha.

A pink elephant names 'Elly'.

My favourite children's book was
The Magic Faraway Tree

My favourite chidlhood holiday was
Just camping near the beach in summer with my cousins. We did it every year.

My favourite song was
Wannabe by The Spice Girls has got to be up there

I think it was Franz Ferdinand when I was on exchange in Germany at 15 years old.

My favourite childhood game was
Puzzles.

Flute.

Gaston from Beauty and the Beast.

Tyne-James OrganThe first concert I went to was 
One of my dads when I was 2 weeks old! I wish I could remember it haha.

My first musical instrument was
My dad bought me a Ukulele when I was 14. It changed everything for me.

My favourite children’s book was
Captain Underpants was a game changer.

My favourite song was
The Way You Make Me Feel by Michael Jackson.

As a child, I loved dressing up as
Danny Zuko from Grease.

Shakira.

My first musical instrument was
Guitar.

My favourite children’s book was
Cinderella.

I really disliked
Salad.

As a child, I loved dressing up as
Wonder Woman.

WoodesMy favourite childhood toy or game
Make believe - I had a space underneath our Queenslander home that had all of my toys and the dollhouse I made out of scrap wood from my mother's renovations. I made furniture and paintings out of recycled things and paint cards from the hardware store. I also played witches for many years... I sort of still do! 

My first musical instrument was
The piano - I found it was a great starting place for music as all the notes are laid out in front of you. From there I went to the glockenspiel (it's like a metal piano!) and orchestral percussion. The whole time I was singing, though.

My favourite childhood's book was
Harry Potter series. I grew up mirroring Harry's age - however I never got my letter to Hogwarts... 

I was really good at
Using my imagination and using my hands to create things. I love craft and collage. Even now as a singer on my days off I like to sit and do art as a way of thinking differently and getting ideas out. 

I really disliked
Math, sugar and cold swimming pools.
