BAKER BOY

 

Baker BoyIn Arnhem Land they call Baker Boy the ‘fresh new prince’. His totem is the Olive Python, his moiety is Dhuwa and his skin is Burralung/Gela boy. 

Young, strong and proud, Baker Boy raps in Yolngu Matha language representing his Arnhem Land bloodlines. He commands the mic and didgeridoo with style, dropping in bold breakdancing moves mid-flow.

 

Born in Darwin and raised in the remote NT communities of Milingimbi and Maningrida, 21 year-old Danzal Baker is related to rising stars Gawurra and Yirrmal. He’s received solid Triple j airplay, was handpicked by Dizzee Rascal to be his Australian support act, and has recorded a remix of Treaty with Yothu Yindi.

 

Baker Boy scored the gong as the 2017 Triple j Unearthed NIMA victor. His banging track Cloud 9 won the NT Song of the Year Award in the Hip Hop category and the Inaugural Native Tongue Award.
